Introduction - Irene Hilsdon
I was born in North Shields, Northumberland and was originally inspired to take up painting by my father Larry Bedigan who loved painting in watercolour. He mostly painted landscapes and various views from the River Tyne. I have painted a number of 'Local Scenes' but prefer to paint animals, birds, flowers and portraits.
I joined the Women's Royal Air Force in 1972 and moved to
My two children Andrew and Michelle still live in
I now live in Shilbottle, Northumberland with my husband Bob.
Bob changed careers when we moved back to Northumberland and after completing two picture framing courses he now has his own Picture Framing business. (This is a great bonus to someone who paints as he mounts and frames all my pictures).
I started painting in 1995 and attended a watercolour class in Southend on Sea,
I have since attended a number of courses using other mediums.
Most of my portraits and animals are painted using Pastels or Pastel Pencils, but I also work in watercolour, ink and oils.
I have painted a number of children's and pet's portraits and am happy to take commissions for these.
For the past 2 years, I have also been teaching watercolour painting to complete beginners in the Community Hall in Shilbottle.
I am about to take part in The Art Tour for the first time in June and July, for more details please visit the Art Tour website http://www.networkartists.org.uk/art_tour.php
